JP Steel Plantech Co. (SPCO), together with Marubeni Corporation, received the order for total modification of No.5&6 BOF Gas Dedusting system from Conpanhia Siderurgica Paulista (COSIPA) in Brazil. This modification is to contribute the improvement of removal efficiency of the dust from the off-gas of BOF, according to the requirement from the plan of COSIPA to increase the production.
COSIPA is the 100% subsidiary company of USIMINAS located in Sao Paulo State, producing the 4.5 million ton of crude steel by the integrated steel mill. At present, USIMINAS has the plan to newly invest more than 1.5 billion USD until 2010 including subsidiary companies such as COSIPA in order to maintain the competitiveness and targeting the advancement of product quality. The modification of BOF Gas Dedusting system is one of the important items of the total investment.
SPCO is the Engineering company established by the merger of each steelplant division of JFE Engineering, Sumitomo Heavy Industries, Hitachi Zosen, and Kawasaki Heavy Industries, major products of which are machinery for steel mill and steelplant.
Many OG systems have been delivered to Brazilian market by Kawasaki Heavy Industries in the past. This time, in the tough competition with European suppliers, total ability of SPCO including reference, technology, and sales and the ability of Marubeni for coordination and sales lead them to the successful bidders.
